How to display a collection of vintage costume jewelry, old buttons and a few elegant pieces? Borrow the name from another series and create a unique garment. Three thrift store afghans comprise this coat, as none were big enough to make the whole thing. It is lined with gold fabric from the 2019 Aultman Angel Auction décor. The 400+ crocheted flowers were ordered from various resale vendors, so I had no idea what was really going to show up. First, I layered the flowers and jewelry, then braid, trim and assorted extra pieces. The multiflora shoulder pads were added for visual balance of the overall garment. One interior button holds the collar closed, and then the ties wrap around the back of the neck for additional support as it weighs just over 15 pounds. The collar and cuffs are real fur (greed is the theme!), it has pockets (love those), and a matching fish purse from the garden pond. I never mastered the ability to knit or crochet, detail embroider or macramé, therefore I admire those who can make such textiles.
